Power Management IC (PMIC)
Power Management IC (PMIC) is an integrated circuit that includes multiple power rails and power management functions within a single chip. PMIC is commonly used to power small-sized, battery powered devices because integrating multiple functions into a single chip can provide higher space utilization and system power efficiency. Common functions integrated within PMIC include voltage converters and regulators, battery chargers, battery meters, LED drivers, real-time clocks, power sequencers, and power controls. Low power PMIC provides high efficiency and small size required for space limited applications such as wearable devices, ear worn devices, sensors, and IoT devices. High performance PMIC maximizes the utilization of power per watt while improving system performance, making it ideal for computationally intensive platforms such as System on Chip (SoC), FPGA, and application processors.
Isolation power supply
Isolated power supplies typically include transformers or optocouplers in the power and feedback paths, making their design more complex than non isolated power supplies. Maxim's isolated power IC integrates some necessary isolation components, which helps reduce design complexity and cost.
Charge pump
The charge pump IC utilizes switch control and capacitive energy storage units to convert (or stabilize) voltage. Charge pumps provide efficient and compact solutions to meet the power supply needs of most low power supply currents.
Linear regulator
We offer a variety of high-performance low dropout (LDO) linear regulators. A low voltage regulator is a type of voltage regulator that operates with a small voltage difference between the regulated output voltage and the unregulated input voltage. Our low dropout linear regulator supports specific performance applications where switching voltage regulators are not an obvious choice, including: low noise where signal integrity is crucial, high PSRR LDO capable of withstanding high voltage to protect critical task circuits from transient and reverse polarity effects, low-power LDO, miniature LDO that preserves space and battery life in portable applications. LDO for digital core power supplies dominated by low voltage and high current.
LED driver
Maxim provides efficient switch topologies and linear LED driver products, suitable for applications such as general lighting, automotive lighting, display backlighting, projectors, and camera flashes.
Motor driver IC
Maxim's DC motor drive series provides the simplest and most flexible IC solution for driving brushed DC motors.
Protection and control
The power protection and control IC is used to monitor the input voltage of the load to ensure that the supply voltage is within the specified range. If overvoltage is detected, the protection and control IC adjusts the voltage or current, or shuts off the power supply to protect the load from damage.
MOSFET driver and controller
MOSFET driver ICs generally adopt a bridge configuration and are used to drive external MOSFETs, widely used in power supply and motor drive applications. The MOSFET driver meets the timing requirements of the bridge, ensuring that only one MOSFET is conducting at a time.
