Rectangular connectors are also a type of multi contact low-frequency connector. The cross-section is rectangular, which facilitates high-density arrangement of contact pairs. According to the connection characteristics, rectangular connectors can also be divided into two types: direct insertion and locking. According to performance and structural characteristics, there are various types including non sealed, sealed, mixed high and low pressure, and mixed high and low frequency.
Some do not come with a casing, and the installation part is a concave edge on the insulator; Some come with simple metal mounting plates; Some have complete shells. The contact pairs of rectangular connectors include pinhole type (such as CD type), curved spring circular contact pin type (such as CA type), curved spring flat contact pin type (such as CB type), curved spring curved spring type, circular pin wire spring socket type, tubular socket twisted wire pin type, etc. The sealing device of the rectangular connector is installed on the socket, and inorganic sintering sealing method is often used.
Rectangular connector type
1. Previously, CA, CB, and CD rectangular connectors were mainly produced for enterprises under the Ministry of Electronics Industry. 2. Nowadays, CH type rectangular connectors are widely used and mainly produced by enterprises affiliated with the electronics department. 3. J-shaped rectangular connectors mainly produced by enterprises under the Ministry of Aeronautics and Astronautics. 4. Rectangular connectors produced according to the national military standard (GJB). 5. Rectangular connectors produced according to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.
Environmental conditions for the use of rectangular connectors
Environmental temperature: refers to the temperature range within which the product should be used. Even if the external environment temperature is not high, if the product works inside the chassis, poor heat dissipation conditions and the heating of other components will cause the ambient temperature of the product to be much higher than the external ambient temperature. Using beyond the specified ambient temperature can also damage metal coatings or insulators.
Dampness or water: Dampness or water can form a water film on the surface of the insulator, reducing its insulation performance and even causing miscommunication between adjacent contacts. Generally, connectors that are used in high humidity or water conditions for a long time should use connectors with sealing function.
Low pressure: Under high-altitude conditions, the air pressure will decrease (except for sealed compartments with constant pressure). When the product is under low pressure conditions, the dielectric withstand voltage of the product will decrease. If the transmitted voltage is higher than the technical specifications of the product, electrical breakdown may occur, causing failure.
Corrosive environment: refers to the atmosphere surrounding the product during operation, such as salt spray at sea, acid and alkali in chemical raw material storage warehouses, etc. These conditions can cause corrosion and erosion to the metal parts, insulators, etc. of the connector. When selecting connectors, special requirements can be made to the manufacturer or products that can meet these requirements can be selected.
Mechanical conditions: Refers to the mechanical effects such as vibration, impact, acceleration, etc., selected according to the parameters in the micro rectangular connector sample. In fact, in actual use, cables and contacts should be fixed with clamps or other methods after crimping. Cables that are too long and without fixing measures will endanger their safety under external forces such as vibration or impact, and in severe cases, may cause cable breakage and damage to micro rectangular connectors.
Precautions for using rectangular connectors
1. To ensure reliable connection of the product, ensure that the connector is properly plugged in during use. Do not forcefully insert if there is an abnormality during insertion. 2. Connectors that are not properly inserted or locked cannot be powered on for use. 3. The downgrading of the main technical parameters of the product (refer to the rectangular connector product sample manual) should be clarified according to different application situations to improve the reliability of use. 4. The rectangular electrical connector is a short shell connector, which does not have the function of anti skew insertion. When inserting, it should first align the direction and then slowly push in, because it needs to give the Fried Dough Twists needle a time to automatically locate the position. It is recommended to observe with eyes when inserting or separating the connector, operate carefully, prevent the product from excessive deflection, and try not to pull out by shaking from left to right. Special attention should be paid to avoiding excessive deflection during insertion or separation, as it may cause damage to components such as pins, sockets, and casings. 5. During use, the root of the cable should be avoided from being subjected to force to prevent the cable from coming out or breaking.
6. For sealed rectangular electrical connectors supported by glass insulators, the welding terminals should not be moved randomly during welding, and should not be shaken left or right when pulled out. Attention should also be paid to handling with care. 7. For applications that require frequent plugging and unplugging, converters, adapter cables, or anti tilt connectors can be used if necessary. 8. For connectors that require soldering, it is important to avoid damaging the connector due to high soldering iron temperature or long soldering time. 9. When placing, the connector should be plugged in or covered with a dust cover. 10. Matching installation tools should be used to install the accessories of the connector to avoid excessive torque damage to screws or nuts. When installing accessories that require anti loosening, it is recommended to take necessary anti loosening measures (such as adding elastic washers).
