D-type connectors, also known as D-sub miniatures, are commonly used electrical connectors in computers. With the development of technology, D-type connectors have gradually evolved into multiple specifications, including five main types:

Stamped D-type connector. The pins and sockets of stamped D-type connectors are made of flat metal sheets (usually tin plated brass) and form cylindrical contacts, making them the most commonly used contact type in commercial connectors.

Mechanical D-type connector. The contacts of mechanical D-type connectors are usually made of solid metal (such as gold-plated copper) and are high-quality contacts designed for harsh applications. Such connectors generally have a plug-in life of over 500 times.

Crimp D-type connector. The D-type connector with crimping contact has excellent environmental performance and is commonly used in high-end terminal fields such as military equipment.

IDC D-type connector. The IDC D-type connector has the advantage of fast assembly, making it the most popular interconnect choice for simple data transmission. But its disadvantage is that the lead wires are limited, and the selection of cables is limited to ribbon cables.

Shielded D-type connector. Shielded D-type connectors can provide greater EMI/RFI protection. It can prevent communication interference and is usually used in environments where signal clarity is crucial. Protect the signal transmission stability and reliability of the equipment.
