Cornell Dolby Electronics is a private American company that has earned a global reputation for manufacturing high-quality high-end capacitors. Almost all of the company's capacitors are used in demanding industrial applications, standing out in the competition. Shortly after inventing mica capacitors, Dubilier began manufacturing capacitors and contributed to World War I by developing a system for detecting submarines. Dubilier Company was the earliest commercial manufacturer of capacitors and merged with Cornell Radio in 1933 to form Cornell Dubilier Electronics (CDE). Driven by the rise of radio and television broadcasting, the company experienced astonishing growth, and by 1966, it had over 350 patents in the fields of radio and electrical science. Over time, the company further developed into one of the world's largest capacitor manufacturers.
